What is Academic Fresh Start?
When applying as a transfer student, your old grades don’t have to count against you. If you apply for admission to Woodbury University as an undergraduate, you may be able to begin a new course of study with a clear academic record.
If you have credits for college courses taken ten or more years prior to the planned enrollment date, those credits and grades can be waived under the “Academic Fresh Start” policy if you invoke it at the time of application* (we would still require the transcript to complete your file).
Please remember: this is an all-or-nothing option. You cannot pick and choose which courses to ignore and which courses to count. If you choose the “Academic Fresh Start” option, you will not receive any credit for any courses you took over ten years ago. This means that courses taken previously:
How does this affect your financial aid?
Academic Fresh Start clears only your academic record, not the number of semesters you have been in higher education. The maximum number of semesters for receiving federal Pell Grants is 12, which must include all of the time you have spent taking dual credit courses and community college courses, including those from over ten years ago.
Notes:
Woodbury University’s Transfer Course Evaluation System (TES) below is intended as a guide for prospective students to view course equivalencies that have been previously evaluated by our academic departments.
TES indicates how course(s) at your current or previous institution(s) may transfer to Woodbury. If a course is not found in TES, this does not necessarily mean the course does not transfer into Woodbury. It may mean the course has not yet been evaluated.
Our goal is to be as flexible as possible while maintaining the integrity of our degree programs. In some circumstances, major courses may require further review.
Current Woodbury Students:
TES (Transfer Course Evaluation System) is intended as a guide for current students who may need to take courses at another institution. Transfer course approvals must be submitted to the Registrar. Please contact the Registrar’s Office at [email protected] before taking courses at another institution for clarification on proper procedure and necessary paperwork.
Woodbury maintains memorandums of understanding with several local community colleges. Find your major and select your community college to view these transfer articulation agreements.
