Here you can find all the information you need to get started at Woodbury. Below you can learn more about and register for Placement Exams and Student Orientation, Advising, and Registration (SOAR).

Placement Exams

Freshmen Students

  • All incoming freshmen must register for the Writing Placement Exam, unless they have transfer credit or have received a score of 3 or higher on the AP English, Language and Composition Exam. \
  • Bachelor of Architecture and Applied Computer Science majors must also register for the Math Placement Exam.

Transfer Students

  • Once you have received your transcript evaluation from the Office of the Registrar, your Admissions Counselor will contact you with next steps.


Writing Placement Exam Guide

  • Placement exams must be taken before your SOAR date. You will NOT be permitted to attend SOAR if you have not satisfied your placement exam requirement.
  • Students must register in advance; walk-ins cannot be accommodated.
  • Students must check-in on time; late arrivals cannot be accommodated.
  • Placement exams dates are subject to change.
  • Both Math and Writing exams are offered on all placement exam testing days.
  • Students are given 45-minutes to complete each exam, unless other accommodations have been approved by Disabilities and Accessibility Services.

If you need accommodations, appropriate documentation verifying your disability must be provided to Disabilities and Accessibility Services no later than one week before the testing date. This documentation could be satisfied by submitting a copy of your Individualized Education Plan (IEP), doctor’s verification, notice of approved accommodation, or approval letter from College Board or ACT. Attending Student Orientation, Advising, and Registration (SOAR) is required of all newly admitted students. SOAR helps prepare you for college life and shares with you the array of support services available from your new campus community. Note: a SOAR fee will be charged to your account.

If you need to take placement exams, please make sure you register for and take them before your SOAR date; you will NOT be permitted to attend SOAR if you have not satisfied your placement exam requirement.
