Woodbury School of Architecture is proud to announce the school’s new administrative team:
Ewan Branda will serve as Associate Dean for the School of Architecture and director for our MSArch programs in Los Angeles. In his new dual role, Ewan will act as assessment officer for the School, representing the School in University-wide WASC accreditation activities. He will also oversee the Making Complex in LA and work with faculty to expand and market our post-professional MS Arch program.
Catherine Herbst continues to serve as Chair of the San Diego programs and to manage the San Diego campus. I am very happy to report that we have a large new incoming BArch class in San Diego this fall, due to the efforts of Catherine and Admissions Counselor Janet Asuncion, supported by Associate VP of Admissions Sabrina Taylor and her team.
Christoph Korner will continue to serve as Chair of the undergraduate and graduate Interior Architecture programs. He has also agreed to step in as PPOHA Activity Director during this final year of the grant. In this role, he will provide support on the construction of our Material Testing Lab currently under construction adjacent to our Making Complex, and other grant related initiatives that enhance and expand our Master of Interior Architecture program.
Heather Flood will serve as Chair for our BArch and MArch programs in Los Angeles. Heather has done an exceptional job recruiting and retaining students in her role as BArch chair, in developing the BArch foundation curriculum, and in implementing and coordinating community college outreach projects. She is our School’s newest full-time faculty member with an area of expertise in teaching foundation which forms the basis of her scholarly work.
Ryan Martinez will serve as Assistant Chair for our BArch and MArch programs in Los Angeles. Founder and principal of Studio Ryan Tyler Martinez, he is co-founder and chief curator of A One-Night Stand for Art and Architecture. Prior to coming to Woodbury, he taught at UC Berkeley and SCI-Arc, and worked at Gehry Partners, LLP.
Dean Ingalill Wahlroos-Ritter remarks that, “2018-19 is going to be an exciting year for us and I look forward to working with this collegial and professional team. They are distinguished faculty who consistently work above and beyond the expectations of their responsibilities for the good of the School. I know that they will support the exceptional teaching and design work taking place in Los Angeles and San Diego.”
