School of Business Organizes its First Business Summit

On Friday, March 3, Woodbury University’s School of Business organized its first annual Business Summit. The topic of this year’s summit was, “Innovation and Best Practices in Business Education”. The event was organized by a Business Administrators and Faculty team, led by Dr. Joan Marques, and consisting of Dr. Svetlana Holt, Ms. Wendy Bendoni, Dr. Mr. Mauro Diaz, and Dr. Satinder Dhiman. 19 Business Division Deans, Chairs, and faculty, from 9 Los Angeles based community colleges participated in the summit, representing, Glendale Community College, Los Angeles Valley College, College of the Canyons, Los Angeles City College, Pierce College, Mission College, West Los Angeles College, East Los Angeles College, and Citrus College.

Focusing on the team of the summit, Woodbury’s Business faculty shared some teaching best practices, such as diversity awareness exercises, production and operations management exercises, and a presentation/demonstration of Virtual Reality in Business education. In the “Innovation and Best Practices Panel”, members from each participating college shared their own points of pride, quality enhancing practices, and their perspectives on future trends in business education.

The participants were pleased to learn more about Woodbury. They shared some constructive ideas about closer connections, and praised Woodbury for its wonderful campus and clear student engagement focus.
