Woodbury University students, alumni, and industry professionals participated in the Accounting program’s annual “Meet the Firms” networking event in early October. Panelists representing global, well-known accounting firms, along with large specialized, and smaller, local firms shared their insights about the field, different career paths, and recruitment advice. They also discussed how COVID-19 has impacted their industry.
Representatives from Ernst & Young and Deloitte offered insight around the benefits of working for a “Big Four” firm, and professionals from large specialized firms, Weaver & Tidwell and Moss Adams, shared thoughts on their unique niche in the accounting world. An executive from a smaller, local firm, Kelly & Smalls, talked about a regional approach to accounting, while those working for the IRS and FBI discussed the benefits of a public service role in accounting.
The virtual event was a joint effort of the student-run Accounting Society and accounting faculty.
