Interior Design Chair's Firm Wins German Design Award

Hats off to Interior Design Chair Christoph Korner whose firm, GRAFT,  established in L.A., with offices in Berlin and Beijing,  has just been named winner of the prestigious 2020 German Design Award.

“For our client TRILUX, a lighting manufacturer, we developed an innovative office building in Cologne, and jackbenimble contributed the lighting concept, presenting the products throughout the new building in a creative and modern manner,” Korner says. “We’re delighted to have been able to contribute the ‘cloud’ installation in the entrance area. The TRILUX lamp ‘Parelia,’ designed by GRAFT, can also be found throughout the entire building.”

In its Jury Statement, the German Design Council said this: “Special solutions, such as the ‘cloud’ installation hanging sculpturally from the ceiling of the reception area, provide an especially impressive and representative demonstration of what is possible and lend the brand a high level of competence with regard to modern lighting design. An interesting combination of exclusive lighting design an elegant design idiom.”

Korner received his degree in Architecture and Urban Design from the Technical University in Braunschweig, Germany, followed by a MArch from UCLA with an emphasis on History and Theory.  At GRAFT, his award winning design firm, projects range from Master Planning, Urban Design and Architecture, to Interior Design, Exhibition Design and Product Design. In addition to his academic career, Korner has exhibited his work widely and has been published in numerous articles and books.
