Xiaolin Yu

Professor, Department of Filmmaking


Born in China, Xiaolin is Los Angeles based producer who holds an MFA from the American Film Institute (AFI). Her credits include the documentary “Space Times Square” and a short entitled “Six Letter Word” that was recently included in the showcase at The American Pavilion in Cannes Film Festival and many other Film Festival nationally and internationally. Xiaolin originally moved to the United States in order to train at the Joffrey School of Ballet after her professional Classical Chinese Dance Career in Qingdao. Her interest in film and TV as artistically expressive media eventually led her to complete undergraduate studies in Communication and Mass Media at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Xiaolin currently works as a professor focusing on Film Production in the film department of the School of Media, Culture & Design at Woodbury University in Burbank, California. She has her own production company which specializing Chinese and co-production projects. She also has completed many narratives, commercials, music videos and more in the last 10 years as a young Chinese-American producer. She currently has several film projects underway that bridge the two distinct cultures found in China and the United States.
