Tyler Chiocchio

Adjunct Faculty, Department of Game Art & Design


Tyler Chiocchio received his Bachelor’s Degree in Game Art and Design from the Art Institute of Phoenix in 2002. Since then he has worked on several AAA games, collectively shipping well over ten million units worldwide. His focus has been Level Design but has also designed many missions. He was a Level Designer for multiple Tony Hawk games, did World and Mission Design for a black and white, World War Two game Saboteur. He was a Lead Level Designer for LEGO Universe, and designed open world areas and missions for a transmedia game called Defiance. For the past five years he has been working at Insomniac Games, where he Designed half the world of Sunset Overdrive, Level and Mission design for the VR game Edge of Nowhere, and Level and Mission design for Marvel’s Spider-Man. He is currently still at Insomniac, working to keep Spider-Man spectacular.

When not in the office, Tyler has been invited to lecture at various schools and events across the country. He also sculpts artwork when not behind a computer and enjoys writing fiction. He doesn’t let his gaming slip though, as he is ranked in the top 3% in the multiplayer game Call of Duty for Team Deathmatch.

Tyler is passionate about games, both creating them and playing them, and enjoys sharing the knowledge he’s gained through both success and failure.
