All BBA students have to fulfill the internship requirement. This provides them an opportunity to get acquainted with the professional environment of their choice. The internship program consists of 120 hours, to be fulfilled at an organization and in a position that should be approved by the internship director. On a weekly basis, the students submit progress reports to the internship director, signed by their professional supervisors, for monitoring purposes.

The Advisory Board is Woodbury School of Business’s formal connectivity and guiding body for business involvement, providing insights, leadership assistance, and serving as business liaisons in the local community.
Advisory Board members provide valuable input in curricular, entrepreneurial, strategic, community engagement, and overall performance regards to the School of Business, with clear allegiance to the School’s mission. The board consists of individuals who have diverse experience in business involvement, from being founders and leaders of their own businesses, to fulfilling important roles in established business organizations.
Members of the School of Business Advisory Board schedule office hours each week, sharing insights and experiences, counseling on Shark Tank-style elevator pitches and responding to student queries in their respective areas of expertise. The rotating Executive-in-Residence program is housed in the School’s Center for Entrepreneurship.
The rotating Executive-in-Residence Program is a result of the School’s efforts to augment business connectivity and provide real-world guidance to undergraduate and MBA students. The program augments Woodbury’s active internship, mentorship, and civic engagement efforts, bringing business acumen to campus in a personalized, compelling fashion.”
The “Creative Minds Conference,” is a major opportunity for students from throughout the Woodbury community to interface with local business executives. The School’s Advisory Board members invite business relatives to join them in meeting with our students and providing career advice in a broad sense. Students are encouraged to bring in their resume’s and network with the business executives, in order to take optimal advantage of this opportunity.
This is an evening event, held in late fall.
The Career Development Encounter is a spring opportunity created by the School’s Advisory Board, and organized as a half day event, in which two groups of advisory board members meet with pre-registered students, who seek career guidance. The mini advisory boards use their collective and diverse backgrounds to optimize guidance and recommendations to business students, varying from resume instructions to interview techniques, and from career focus to potential job connections.
This is a late morning/early afternoon event near the end of the spring semester.
Meet the Firms (Fall)
The Accounting Society, under supervision of the Accounting Chair, organizes an annual “Meet the Firms” event, which is open for all BBA and MBA accounting majors/concentrations. Representatives from several accounting companies form a panel and interact with the students. Some of the represented firms are: Ernst & Young LLP, Accountemps – A Robert Half Company, Bessolo & Haworth LLP, Green Hasson Janks, Hutchison and Bloodgood LLP, JLK Rosenberger LLP, and Kirsch Kohn & Bridge LLP.
This event has been organized for the past 10 years.
The Woodbury Accounting Society, under supervision of the Accounting Chair, also participates in VITA, the national Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program. Students assist community members with free tax filing every Saturday in the spring up till the income tax filing deadline. This program has been in place for several years, and students are able to complete the required internship by volunteering.
Baron Business Plan Competition (Spring)
This competition, sponsored by School of Business alumnus and businessman Tom Baron, is accessible to all students of Woodbury University, including those from the three other schools on campus. The Baron Business Plan Competition aims to provide students a chance to develop their entrepreneurial skills. Leadership of CEO is housed in the School of Business. The winner(s) of this contest are awarded cash prizes.
So you think you can sell? (Fall)
So You Think You Can Sell is a competition where student-contestants receive a surprise item, which they have to sell convincingly in one minute. This Shark Tank-inspired competition is open to students from all Woodbury teaching divisions. Jurors are members of the School of Business’ Advisory Board. Three winners are announced before the end of the evening. Prizes can vary from cash to a full-time job.
Etiquette Dinner (Spring)
A hands-on educational opportunity to learn business dining etiquette, the dinner helps students successfully navigate lunch interviews, business dinners and other formal events. Instruction is led by BPWOW Advisor Dr. Alexandra Saba, a certified etiquette and protocol coach, and hosted by the membership.
Dress for Success Event (Spring)
Visiting business/fashion professionals provide valuable information and feedback on how to dress for the office, interviews, etc. Members stage what amounts to a mini fashion show.
BPWoW’s Elevator Pitch (Fall)
Students have 60 seconds to pitch an idea, a product, a company, an event – or themselves — to a panel of judges, while competing to win cash prizes. This competition is accessible to students from all Woodbury schools.
Since fall 2016, we have been holding regular entrepreneurship lecture series, and made these accessible to students from all four Woodbury schools. The invited entrepreneur typically lectures for about 50 minutes, after which students are encouraged to engage in a Q&A session. In 2016-2017 we invited alumni entrepreneur speakers as well as local business leaders. Examples of alumni entrepreneurs are Jocelyn Ramirez, founder of Todo Verde, Charbel Ghabi, co-founder of Hill Street Café and Rounds Premium Burgers, and Kipenzi Chidinma, founder of LINĒIJ™, a line of handcrafted luxury handbags. Examples of external entrepreneurs were Noam Lotan, venture partner at Our Crowd, Kevin Matossian, Founder and Chairman of Film Solutions LLC, and Tracy Hernandez, founder of the Los Angeles County Business Federation BizFed.
