Tutors in the Writing Center celebrated Dictionary Day on October 16. This unofficial holiday honors the birthday of lexicographer Noah Webster.
Students were invited to play a massive, six-foot square Scrabble game.Carnival prizes — rubber ducks, stuffed monsters, and magnetic games — were awarded based on the number of points scored with each word, but everyone who played won a prize.
A grand prize (a coveted Starbucks gift card!) was awarded to Ria Villegas and Jay McPherson, who scored big by joining forces and placing the word “more” on a triple word space.
