For the seventh consecutive year, Woodbury University has been recognized by Colleges of Distinction, a respected guide for college-bound students, parents, and counselors, for honorable commitment to engaged, hands-on, and student-centered education.
The selection process included in-depth research and detailed interviews with the schools about each institution’s freshman experience and retention efforts alongside its general education programs, career development, strategic plan, student satisfaction, and more. The program only accepts universities that adhere to four distinctions: Engaged Students, Great Teaching, Vibrant Community, and Successful Outcomes.
“Every student has their own unique set of abilities, their own goals, and their own ideal settings in which they would thrive,” said Wes Creel, founder of Colleges of Distinction. “That’s why we don’t rank our schools. It’s about finding the best opportunities for each individual’s needs and desires. Woodbury’s inclusion is informed by the unique ways it commits to achieving success. It’s inspiring to see the University’s commitment to the learning styles and community involvement that will best allow their students to succeed in and beyond their college years.”
Woodbury also received three additional designations from Colleges of Distinction based on accreditation, breadth of program, and a track record for success: California College of Distinction, Business School College of Distinction, and Career Development College of Distinction.
According to a statement from Colleges of Distinction about the Business School recognition, “Globalization and the intricacies of modern business op
erations require effective communication and apt problem-solving strategies. Woodbury’s programs in its School of Business keep their future leaders adaptable as they grow alongside their industry.”
When addressing Woodbury’s career center, Tyson Schritter, chief operation officer of Colleges of Distinction, said, “The Career Development recognition goes beyond a job board and résumé writing. Woodbury has shown inventiveness in connecting with students throughout their academic careers and beyond. Students and graduates are fully supported by Woodbury’s outstanding Career Center.”
“We are honored to have been identified as a College of Distinction for the seventh year in a row,” said David Steele-Figueredo. “Woodbury offers a unique experience that is personal, communal, and practice-based. Every major requires an internship, giving students work experience and a competitive advantage after graduation. We’re also located in one of the most exciting and vibrant communities in the world–in the heart of Southern California’s creative economy.”
