Solar Futures House earns award at the 2025 AIA|LA Residential Architecture Awards

Woodbury University’s Solar Futures House has earned 2nd Place (Merit Award) in the Climate Positive category at the 2025 AIA|LA Residential Architecture Awards — the only student-designed project recognized among all professional submissions!

Jury comments about the project commended its boundary pushing sustainable design, and the innovative concept and execution.

Ambitious and visionary — pushes the boundaries of sustainable design through innovation.

Use of 3D-printed, low-carbon concrete and non-combustible walls reflects strong fire-resilience thinking.


A holistic environmental strategy: net-zero energy, water harvesting, all-electric systems, and passive design elements.


Triple-paned glazing and experimental construction techniques position it at the frontier of green building.
