Minor Construction Management

Program Minor

Construction Management is an expanding field, with 11% growth expected by 2023. Moreover, it’s an exciting job because you get to oversee the building process that turns a design into a reality. The Construction Management minor is a great way to supplement your major area of study, particularly in the architecture, interior design, and business fields. We prioritize experiential, hands-on learning with an emphasis on construction technology and sustainability.

Today’s employers look for applicants with additional skills sets that help them build a nimble workforce. A minor in Construction Management provides that additional education that helps you stand out and gives you more choices as you advance in your career.

Environmental Testing

We believe our Construction Management majors should feel prepared to use a wide variety of environmental tools that will help them be successful on the job site. Our Sustainability Hub, made possible through a Title V federal grant, is a robust lending library packed with scientific instruments ranging from an infrared camera that tests thermal temperatures to sound, air, and light quality meters.

Student Projects and Opportunities

Hands-on training

From cutting pipes in the Plumbing Systems + Site Systems class to conducting geotechnical surveys using our state-of-the-art surveying equipment, our Construction Management minors gain hands-on skills in construction technology.

Materials testing

Woodbury’s College of Architecture, Design, and Media has the only Construction Management program in the region with an XRF device. XRF is a non-destructive, handheld X-ray fluorescence method for immediate on-site elemental analysis of paint, building materials, and consumer goods. Our CM majors and minors use our XRF device to learn more about heavy metal content to ensure we make sustainable and safe construction choices.

Sustainability Focus

Construction industries are one of the most significant contributors to climate change. This makes understanding how to build sustainably one of the most important questions we can ask in the field. Our Construction Management program takes that challenge seriously, helping our students gain the knowledge and the courage to approach the building site in ways that protect the health of construction workers, as well as the community outside of the job site.
