The Julius Shulman Institute at Woodbury University presents James Welling Caligraphy – an exhibit of recent works by the postmodern artist.

Bringing together works made in and about Los Angeles and the west coast, Caligraphy examines James Welling’s experimental approach to photography. Ranging from his earliest photographs of Los Angeles architecture and interiors begun in 1975 to his most recent inkjet prints incorporating dance and architecture Caligraphy will also include never before exhibited works documenting driftwood structures found along the California coast and new experiments incorporating typography and found imagery.
James Welling will receive the 2016 Julius Shulman Institute Excellence in Photography Award at the opening event.
