Woodbury’s Film Program to Offer New Concentration in Creative Producing

The Filmmaking program at Woodbury recently launched an exciting new degree – a BFA in Filmmaking: Concentration in Creative Producing.

Students who choose the Creative Producing concentration will take all the production courses required under the current Filmmaking major. Then they will create a thesis project with an accompanying business and marketing plan.

The Creative Producing concentration is available to students who are interested in film production but also want to learn about the business side of the industry. Students will learn how to make projects and get them produced. The new concentration is perfect for those who want to enter the Los Angeles media industry.

“This new concentration creates an option for students to create a project with a business and marketing plan,” said George Larkin, chair of the Filmmaking program. “Students develop the producing plan one term and then create a media project to support it the next. This program will instruct students how to both make and produce their work.”

Students will take almost all the production classes of the current filmmaking major, including Film Production 1, Cinematography, Screenwriting, Editing, Sound, Film Production 2, Acting, Documentary, and Pre-production, while also learning about the business side of the media industry with classes in Entertainment Marketing, Entertainment Law, and Producing. For transfer students, please contact us and discuss how you can potentially finish your studies in two years.
