Wedge Workshop Series: Structural Shell Prototyping

The first workshop in the Wedge Workshop Series 01 at Woodbury School of Architecture was curated by adjunct professor Alastair Stokes and led by Studio 5A with visiting faculty member Yasushi Ishida in November 2015. In this hands-on workshop, participants fabricated prototypes of various structural shells including fabric formed GFRC (glass fiber reinforced concrete) shell, timber gridshell, brick masonry vault, and others.

Workshop participants included Randy Scovill, Souheil Bou-Melhem, Abdullah Alsanea, Maoqiang Li, Aldo Susanto, Jae Ha Lee, and Austin Dang. The workshop was led by Studio 5A: Eric Martinez, Ivan Avila Gomez, Griselda Rosales, Joseph Marc Tamayo, Jora Rostami, Sahar Garmroudi, Akop (Jacob) Karagyulyan,DaJshey Chatman, Eduardo Negrete, William Ellsworth, Thien Nguyen, Eric Apodaca, Christian Gomez, Juan Carlos Rodriguez, Eric Giragosian, Samuel Lewis, and Yasushi Ishida.
