Opening Reception: The Upside Down

During this digital era, there is an obsession of reproducing highly defined, hyper real, computer generated images with the use of new digital tools, virtual reality and augmented reality; technology has allowed for a finer grain resolution giving designers a much higher range of control between representing reality and the digital world.
The “Upside Down” is an alternate sensation of space—it is where information is transmitted and visible; much like particles in a room, existing but invisible. Our entities are non-existent, but can be perceived through virtual reality
By considering the Wedge Gallery as a catalyst for the simulation, our exhibition focuses on the idea of virtual display of a closed system. We start with an overlay of cosmetic machine-like grids in which we have developed a series of injection points that either feed into or out of this closed system. At moments with in the space, when the pipe diverts from the rigorous input point, seepage through the Wedge occurs resulting in bulbous forms that act as living prototypes and enhancing a paradoxical simulation.
ALL BLACK FORM is an Architectural Design collaboration that aims at cross breeding digital materiality, sensations and design technologies to produce, not only an ephemeral construction of images, but also to fabricate and materialize concepts of space, geometries of all scales through the seduction of Architecture and Architecture as an agent provocateur. Our ambition is to operate on a platform of cross-disciplinary practice, which includes the a/temporality of fashion, art, film and popular culture in order to arrive at an expression of a formal entity.
