Bench Party Features Work by Jose Parral and Tasia Paulson

Artwork created under San Diego Port’s curatorial program by artist team Jose Parral and Tasia Paulson will be featured at the San Diego Bench Party event on Saturday, May 6th.

Bench Party
Saturday, 6 May from 12:00-2:00 pm
999 Bayside Parkway, Chula Vista 91910

Bench Party will feature more than 30 wood and steel sculptures created by Jose and Tasia that function as benches. The sculptures are artistically arranged in clusters around the site, creating gathering spaces to activate the area. Parral and Paulson envisioned the installation as a way for the public to enjoy the unique vantage points of South San Diego Bay’s natural and industrial landscapes.

During the May 6 event, the San Diego Dance Theater will be performing a series of site-specific dances inspired by the artwork and waterfront landscape. The company was founded in 1972 and has earned a reputation as a company of professional dancers committed to unconventional and courageous programming. They are also known for cross-border projects, site-specific Trolley Dances and summer dance workshops.
