Mehruss Jon Ahi Explores Interiors Through Film and Architecture

Woodbury alumni Mehruss Jon Ahi (B.Arch ’12) and Armen Karaoghlanian launched Interiors Journal to explore cinematic space and how architecture functions in film and media. Founded in 2011, Interiors attempts to create a thoughtful dialogue between film and architecture with the hope of establishing a new analytic discussion.

In its 1st three years of publication (2012-2014), Interiors explored the relationship between Film and Architecture with Monthly Digital Magazines featuring Cinematic Floor Plans of famous Film Scenes. In its 2nd three years of publication (2015-2018), Interiors explored the relationship between Film and Architecture even further with an Online Publication that featured Exclusive Interviews with individuals involved in Design, Architecture and Film. Most notably, Interviews with Design Studio, Snarkitecture, Production Designer, Chris Trujillo and Director, Nicholas Winding Refn. In addition, Interiors looked at Think-Pieces from Guest Contributors to grow the content of their ever-growing Publication.

In its 3rd three years of publication (2019-2021), Interiors will explore the relationship between Film and Architecture with Printed Zines about Architectural and Cinematic Topics. By examining and looking back at the first six years, Interiors plans to piece this information together in the hopes of creating a well-rounded Publication and the definitive place for analysis on the relationship between Architecture and Film

Currently, Mehruss Jon Ahi is an Architectural Designer and Vice President of MBI Homes & Design Groups, a Real Estate Development Corporation based in the Silicon Valley. Additionally, he is a Planning Commissioner for the City of Los Altos, as well as the Co-Founder and Creative Director of Interiors.
