BArch Alumnus Mark Chien Receives 2016 ASLA San Diego Chapter Student Design Award

Mark Chien, a 2015 San Diego graduate of the Bachelor of Architecture program, was among three San Diego students to receive the Student Design Award of the 2016 ASLA San Diego Chapter Design Awards. Chien submitted his final degree project Re-Cover for consideration to the award jury.

Re-Cover merges the architecture, landscape and political relationship between China and Taiwan through the curation of memory and the creation of public space. Chien is the first alumnus from Woodbury University to receive this award. He is currently working at Safdie Rabines Architects.

The ASLA San Diego Design Awards are the ultimate recognition of design achievement for firms and projects in the San Diego region and for firms with outstanding projects completed in San Diego. The award ceremony includes a Design Awards Event and the Student Design Awards.

The 2016 ceremony, held on June 9 at the McMillin Event Center at Liberty Station, were attended by over 120 members and guests who shared a fun evening — celebrating 40 years of ASLA San Diego –  and honoring the best in the industry.
