INDS Graduate Holds Key Role in Women’s March

Aly Nagel, a graduate of the Interdisciplinary Studies program, became a key organizer of the Women’s March in Los Angeles on January 20, which drew upwards of 750,000 people. Aly’s experience in the INDS program prepared her for the job: she was pushed to create a thesis project based on a social phenomenon that was taking place that she felt was unjust or needed to be changed. She looked into women’s body image issues that in turn lead to her questioning why we’ve allowed our “progressive” society to be dominated by patriarchy for so long.
