Getty Fire Update

During the early morning of October 28, the Getty Fire ignited on the west side of the Sepulveda Pass. More than 3,000 homes are threatened, and a mandatory evacuation order is in effect from Mullholland on the north, all the way to Pacific Palisades on the south.

The California Highway Patrol has now closed the southbound San Diego (405) Freeway from the Ventura (101) Freeway in Sherman Oaks to Sunset Boulevard.

The fire has burned 500 acres so far. There are over 10,000 structures (both residential and commercial) in the mandatory evacuation zones — five homes in Tiger Tale that have been lost.

Fire season is upon us, and the Woodbury Campus Security Department is monitoring all fire events in the Southern California area. In an effort to reduce communication, all informational resources will be placed on the Woodbury University Website. This will allow our community to obtain automatic updates by simply visiting our University website. Please remember that to stay safe, it is always the responsibility of each community member to be prepared for emergencies. All preparedness information will be posted on our University website as well. We highly encourage you to utilize all of the resources as they will better assist you in times of emergency.

While our Burbank campus remains unaffected and open, our thoughts are with those affected by the current wildfires in Southern California. Please contact Campus Security officials if you have any questions or need assistance.
