Dr. Michele Starkey joins Woodbury University as Senior Vice President, Academic Affairs

The accomplished leader assumes the university’s senior academic role and brings with her a history of success, innovation, and passion for education.

Dr. Michele Starkey has been named the Senior Vice President, Academic Affairs, effective June 1, 2022. In her new role, Dr. Starkey will oversee the university’s academic and student affairs.

Dr. ­Starkey comes to Woodbury after 25-years at Mount Saint Mary’s University where she held several key positions, including tenured faculty member, Department Chair, Assistant Provost, and most recently Associate Provost & Accreditation Liaison Officer. Under her leadership, Mount Saint Mary’s rose to become the 2nd highest ranked school in the country in Social Mobility (US News and World Report Best College list) and 3rd on MONEY Magazine’s Most Transformative list. Dr. Starkey intends to employ many of those same proven techniques and principles at Woodbury University.

Dr. Starkey holds a BA in Mathematics from Mount Saint Mary’s, an MS in Mathematics from California State University Long Beach, and an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from California State University Long Beach.
