Valerie Mayhew

Adjunct Faculty

Always a lover of a good story, Ms. Mayhew is a graduate of New York’s prestigious The Juilliard School, Drama Division, where her immersion in Shakespeare and Shaw (and long nights secretly reading trashy novels) certainly set her on the road to becoming a writer.

After returning home to Los Angeles, Ms. Mayhew became a successful television writer/producer. Television writing credits include The X-Files (Fox), Charmed (WB), The Fugitive (CBS), Vengeance Unlimited starring Michael Madsen (ABC) and The Invisible Man (Syfy). Taking a multi-year hiatus to focus on family, directing theater and attending graduate school, Ms. Mayhew returned to the world of television with deals at Mandeville Entertainment/ABC Studios and NBC/Universal Cable Productions. She then wrote a pilot for The Syfy Network with her husband, screenwriter Matt Greenberg, and developed a series based on best-selling books by Susan Donovan with former TV executive Stephen La Rue.  She is currently collaborating with Ms. Donovan on a series of fantasy novels.

Ms. Mayhew feels privileged to be able to teach her passion to college students and is deep into writing her first instructional book “Five Magic Words for Screenwriters“.
