Assistant Professor
Karla Spence Bluestone holds the rank of Assistant Professor and serves as the User Engagement Librarian for Woodbury University Library. Karla is responsible for connecting the library’s collection and services to the relevant user populations, and she does so with great warmth and approachability. Karla has a genuine and demonstrated desire that all campus constituencies feel welcomed in the library and are supported academically in their diverse scholastic pursuits. In 2017, Karla was selected by the ASWU to receive the Excellence in Teaching Award for her work as an instructor in her LSCI 105 Information Theory class. With 10 years working in the Fashion industry, Karla understands the business of fashion which makes her a natural fit as the Liaison Subject Specialist Librarian to both The School of Business and Fashion Design Department. Karla has worked for Nordstrom, Koret of California and as a Features Editor at Sportswear International magazine in Milan, Italy. Above all else, Karla seeks to honor and support the experience of all student populations, especially those in their first year, transfer students, foreign students and returning students.
