College of Liberal Arts Introduces the New Computer Science Data Analytics Minor

The College of Liberal Arts (CoLA) Computer Science in Data Analytics (CSDA) major continues to grow. New students have joined the program and now there is an opportunity for any Woodbury student interested in this expanding field to minor in CSDA. As data and technology become increasingly fundamental to how businesses operate, understanding how to derive, communicate, and apply data-driven insights to organizational problems is an in-demand skill set that provides students with an advantage over other graduates in the field.

With every industry and profession needing graduates who can use data to deepen their knowledge, further their research, and make better business decisions, students can gain these skills with a minor in Data Analytics, regardless of college or major. According to Dr. Samuel Sambasivam, who chairs the CSDA program and designed the minor, students who complete the minor will enter the job market with the ability to:

  • Use data analytics methodologies to solve real-world problems by analyzing massive data sets.
  • Develop an analytical mindset.
  • Become familiar with relational and non-relational databases as well as widely used statistical techniques.

Dr. Sambasivam also has news to celebrate as he has been appointed Editorial Board Member for the Science Publishing Group – Mathematics and Computer Science.  Learn more about the editorial board at this link.
