WALK WATTS, an interactive walking tour in South LA, was recently featured in the latest issue of CODAmagazine. The project was completed as a collaboration between Woodbury University, ACE and the Watts Labor Community Action Committee (WLCAC). Team members included professor Jeanine Centuori, FAIA and graphic design faculty member Cate Roman, as well as Alex Kim and Briana Pong.
Focusing on the community of Watts, the tour includes three components: an app with voices from the community, a pocket map, and temporary environmental graphics. The tour showcases the neighborhood’s history while providing a new way to experience Watts.
The newest issue of CODAmagazine features 25 design + art projects that transform spaces to tell stories and send powerful messages. Some of the projects include an illuminated light installation spelling out descriptive passages from novels on Atlanta’s topography, poems painted on the top of Miami rooftops, and meaningful messages sprinkled around NYC’s Union Square Park.
