What is a virtual commencement ceremony?

A virtual ceremony is an event hosted online that will include the traditional formal commencement remarks along with digital slides that announce and honor each graduate.


When are the virtual commencement ceremonies?

Friday, May 7, 2021 @ 6:00pm (Class of 2020)

Saturday, May 8, 2021 @ 9:00am (Class of 2021)


How can I attend the virtual commencement?

Graduating students will be emailed a commencement participation link that will also be shared on our website on the commencement page.


Am I required to attend the virtual commencement ceremony?

Participation in the commencement ceremony is optional. As long as a student has completed their studies, a diploma will be mailed out.


Can I share the ceremony link with others?

Yes! We encourage you to share the link with your family and friends so they can celebrate this incredible achievement with you.


Will the virtual commencement be live or recorded?

The virtual commencement will be pre-recorded.


Can I watch the virtual commencement ceremony at another time?

Yes, you can watch the virtual ceremony at any time that is convenient for you and your family and friends.


I would prefer to attend a live, in-person commencement ceremony. Can I attend the next live event when it is safe to do so?

Yes, students will have the option to attend the next in-person commencement ceremony. Unfortunately, due to the uncertainty of the pandemic, we have not scheduled an in-person commencement at this time. Depending on the county health guidelines, we hope to have a combined in-person ceremony celebrating the classes of 2020, 2021 and 2022 in the spring of 2022.


Will I be getting a commencement ceremony program for the virtual event?

Yes, the program will be made available one day before the ceremony.


What about pictures?

Do I need to order a cap and gown? And where do I order my cap and gown?

Will I have to pay for the cap and gown when ordered?

No, the cap and gowns are already paid for. Jostens will mail your cap and gown to your address on file.

When will I receive my diploma in the mail?

Diplomas are mailed out in mid-to-late August through standard USPS delivery. The receipt of your diploma will depend on the location of your mailing address.


How do I get my diploma cover?

Please email your name, current address, city, state, and zip code to commencement@woodbury.edu. Upon receiving your information, the cover will be mailed to the address you provided.
