Woodbury University is the beneficiary of a new Department of Education Title V Hispanic-Serving Institution Sustainable Programs grant. The grant supports three new interdisciplinary STEM majors that reflect the Woodbury’s dedication to providing education and career advancement for underrepresented students in STEM fields. The College of Liberal Arts is set to launch one of the new majors in Environmental Science in fall 2023. As part of that project, the College will renovate its biology and physics labs, which will include new facilities for chemistry research and experiments as well. Two other major programs, Sustainable Practices and Construction Management, are housed in the School of Architecture. These important and timely fields offer excellent earnings and projected employment growth for graduates. To ensure positive performance and retention, students in the new majors will be assisted by three new programs in financial sustainability, community outreach, and professional academic advising.
This is the College’s second new major to be recently supported by a Title V HSI Grant. The first, the B.S. in Computer Science in Data Analytics program, launched this academic year.
