Matthew is a licensed Architect in California with a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Tennessee. He is also licensed as an Attorney in California and holds a Juris Doctor degree from California Western School of Law in San Diego. He is a Certified Construction Contract Administrator (CCCA). Matthew is the author of numerous articles and has presented a number of continuing education and professional development seminars and educational programs to various groups, both locally and nationally.
Matthew is the founder and president of Southern Cross Property Consultants (SCPC). Since its founding in 2002, SCPC provides construction management, architecture, and facilities management consulting to clients throughout Southern California. Matthew also practices law at Boomhower Law, APC where he serves as outside general counsel to a number of architecture and design firms, as well as other closely held businesses.
Matthew currently serves as a member of the San Diego Zoological Society Foundation’s Charitable Real Estate Committee, which advises the Foundation Board on the acceptance of real estate gifts. He also serves on the City of San Diego, Development Services, Code Monitoring Team (CMT). CMT helps staff identify code sections in need of update and to evaluate proposed Land Development Code amendments. CMT participation requires review of technical draft ordinance documents and active participation in group discussions to provide staff with feedback early in the code amendment process. CMT recommendations on proposed LDC amendments are reflected in staff reports to the Planning Commission and City Council.
