Jim Richardson is a adjunct faculty member in the Department of Animation. Jim has worked as a animator at LAIKA, Electronic Arts, Disney Educational, Rhythm & Hues and Disney Junior as well as a number of smaller studios on a range of projects including Garfield, Scooby Doo 2, Scooby Doo: Curse of the Lake Monster and, most recently, the documentary feature, Meet the Patels, for which he also did character design. In addition, he animated on the WB’s Animaniacs TV show; Timon & Pumbaa’s Safety Smart series; Busch Gardens’ ride film, DarKastle; video games Medal of Honor and Red Dead Redemption; and commercials for clients such as McDonalds, Verizon, FreeRealms, Weinerschnitzel, General Mills and M&Ms (Jim was the original Yellow M&M). Jim has taught at Columbia College Chicago; the Northwest Film Center, Portland; and Actors for Autism. Courses include Animation Principles, Sophomore Studio, Junior Studio, Storyboarding, Introduction to Maya and Post Production for Animation. He holds a BA in Animation from Columbia College Chicago. In addition to teaching, Jim continues to freelance while working on Watchcat, a web series he created.
