SUMMARY:Bait + Switch: Architectural Objects that Fool Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Friday\, March 6 | 6 PM: Wedge Gallery Presents: Bait + Switch: Architectural Objects that Fool \n\nWedge Gallery presents Bait + Switch: Architectural Objects that Fool\, a group exhibition featuring works by Erin Wright\, Julia Haft-Candell\, Rachel Shillander\, Heather Scott Peterson\, Elizabeth Wood\, and Hans Wendel. The show brings together architects\, designers\, and artists whose works challenge perception—misusing\, probing\, and subverting symbols\, references\, functions\, and structural capacities. By playing with objecthood and expectation\, these works tease the eye\, the mind\, and the hand\, stoking joy\, wonder\, and estrangement in viewers and users alike.

SUMMARY:'Designing Research | Reimagining Housing' exhibition by cityLAB
DESCRIPTION:Opening Reception: December 6\, 2025 at 6:00PM\nExhibition Runs from December 5\, 2025 – January 9\, 2026 \n\nDesigning Research | Reimagining Housing \ncityLAB is UCLA’s interdisciplinary hub for design-driven urban research. Although housed within UCLA’s Architecture and Urban Design Department\, cityLAB’s impact extends beyond Los Angeles. cityLAB is unique as it represents both an academic think tank and a practical “do”-tank. Comprised of architects\, designers\, planners\, and humanists\, cityLAB works within four primary researchareas: Reimagining Housing\, Framing the Commons\, Marking Narratives\, and Radical Pedagogies. \nThe projects in this exhibition represent four of cityLAB’s most significant Reimagining Housing projects to date – Accessory Dwelling Units; Education Workforce Housing; Small Lots\, Big Impacts; and Altadena Prefab Showcase. While each of the four housing projects is are unique\, all four projects have each followed a similar research process from early think tank evaluation to “do”-tank production. cityLAB’s process begins with Research and Outreach\, before moving to Accessible Documentation\, Prototyping\, Impactful Legislation\, Capacity Building\, and Built Demonstration. This process is what defines cityLAB’s work\, and it allows the lab to have catalytic impacts that open up new possibilities for the field of architecture to create more just urban futures. \nLearn More

SUMMARY:The Organizer's Guide to Architecture Education: with Kirsten Day\, Peggy Deamer\, Andrea Dietz\, Tessa Forde\, Jessica Garcia Fritz\, Palmyra Geraki\, and Valérie Lechêne
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a conversation with the authors of The Organizers’ Guide to Architecture Education\, which serves as a timely call-to-action for transforming architecture education to meet the monumental environmental and social challenges of our time. Written by a collective of eight educators\, practitioners\, and organizers and structured in three parts\, the book considers organizing across four scales of architecture education and reorients architecture toward stewarding the planetary commons. It speaks to students\, faculty\, and administrators in architecture schools\, as well as professional architects and built environment practitioners\, who recognize the need to expand and decenter the discipline. Readers will gain critical understandings and skills for reimagining architectural pedagogy\, practice\, and relations to power structures. Empowered by this knowledge\, readers will be motivated to contribute actively to and drive systemic change within the field.

SUMMARY:Caroline Partamian and Katie Giritlian: Research Workshop
DESCRIPTION:What does research look like for you? What are the current limits of your research process? What questions are you asking of your practice? This workshop introduces students to interdisciplinary methods of mindful observation\, offering tools they can apply to their own research and capstone projects. Katie Giritlian is an artist and designer who uses publishing and photography to create settings for both self-paced and communal learning. Caroline Partamian is a sound and visual artist influenced by her background in dance. Her work explores abreaction—the resurfacing of dormant memories stored in the body through physical movement. Both are editors of Armenian Creatives\, an artist-run press sustained by intimate collaborations and communal connections.

SUMMARY:Dot Dash – A Group Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Lines are rarely neutral. In architectural drawings\, a line is more than a mere vector—it has weight\, speed\, and intent. A thick line insists\, a thin one hesitates\, a dashed line wavers between presence and absence. This show explores drawings that push lines to stop behaving as mere instruction and start performing as something else\, an otherness. Asking a line to bend\, blur\, or assert itself beyond convention.

SUMMARY:Henry Yang: Low Fertility Rate and Infrastructure in South Korea
DESCRIPTION:South Korea’s low fertility rate\, which fell to 0.78 in 2023\, is not just a demographic concern but also an economic\, political\, and social challenge. Declining birth rates have led to the closure and abandonment of numerous kindergartens\, elementary schools\, hospitals\, universities\, apartments\, and homes—particularly outside Seoul. These vacant structures\, awaiting demolition\, represent a significant waste of resources and investment. For architects\, historians\, and urban planners\, they pose urgent design and scholarly challenges. The fertility crisis\, therefore\, is also an architectural problem. Henry H. Yang is a designer\, educator\, and scholar based in Los Angeles. He is a design faculty member at Woodbury University School of Architecture and a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Architecture and Urban Design at UCLA.
