Award-winning writer and theorist and a Chicana of Indigenous heritage, Rocio Carlos, is our invited guest. Her work is de-colonial and turns an eye towards nature and history. She is interested in a practice of poetry as a form of cartography and in the school of eco- poetics as a response to the calamities of colonialism and capitalism and with a critique of a white “new age”/”back to the land”/”wellness” appropriation of community practices. Her visit will touch on this and acknowledge the day of memorial.
