Dear President Calingo,

Heartfelt congratulations! I have a deep affection for Woodbury and my time spent at the University under the able leadership of President Wayne L. Miller. I was privileged to be part of the historic move from downtown Los Angeles to Burbank.

I wish you the very best as you advance Woodbury to ever new heights.

With gratitude for your service and that of Ken Neilson before you,

Jacqueline Powers Doud, President Emerita, Mount St. Mary’s College, Los Angeles

Big honor, congrats! Would like to see enrollment rise to 2000 plus in the near future. We certainly have the reputation to do so.

Bon voyage Dr. Calingo and all my good friends at Woodbury. Your opening
presentation which included the motivating story of Roger Bannister the miler
certainly got my attention. I watched Roger run the sub four minute mile that day and later his defeat of Landry the Australian. Since I was born in London (and was
one of the children evacuated from there during the time of World War 2) I am very
familar with that particular achievement. He gave everyone in Britain an extremely
motivating performance to illustrate you can achieve impossible results in life
if you are determined enough and are prepared to work to the limits of your abilities.

Thank you

A warm welcome to you Dr. Calingo, and my best wishes for a prosperous and inspiring journey in my beloved Alma Matter!

Woodbury University has always been my home away from home, my Alma Mater. I always think of Woodbury University as an amazing place filled with fond memories, a higher education institution that inspires the creation of dreams and new ideas, and a place that invites people to want to walk into the classrooms to enjoy learning. Woodbury University represents a safe heaven and a world of amazing opportunities and challenges.

I was the oldest student in my program with two of my three sons in college, my husband working abroad, commuting 5 hours a day between Yorba Linda and Burbank, teaching at Fullerton College, and working as a freelance designer for Matel Toys. Without the support and trust from Woodbury University, I would not have been able to complete my studies.

Woodbury University opened the doors wide for me, and offered to me the opportunities no other institution offered before. I took the challenge and in spite of a series of obstacles that threaten the culmination of my studies, I kept knocking on doors and gradually, one by one, every door opened. My mentor, Dr. Rosalie Utterbach, help me stay strong and focused on my goals. I will always remember her with immense love and gratitud, because she believed in me and trusted my determination to graduate. I graduated Magma cum Laude.

Dr. Nielsen also honored me with his trust in my capabilities, and recognition for the work I have done since I graduated. He inspired me to complete my master degree, and welcomed me back to my Alma Mater after years of working and living overseas. I will forever be grateful for his generosity and trust.

I feel extremely proud of being part of the Woosbury University family, and humbly salute you today Dr. Calingo. I sincerely hope that you too will find Woodbury University a welcoming institution that inspires and encourages talent and creativity; an institution that never gives up on its students, and a higher education institution that offers a nurturing learning environment that promotes talent and produces brilliant professionals capable to take any challenge in the real world.

Respectfully,

Magdalena Fischer
