Woodbury Students Help with Proposed Park Over the 134 Freeway

Thanks to some early work by Woodbury University School of Architecture students, the 134 Freeway in Glendale may one day include a series of parks. The Glendale City Council recently unanimously approved "Space 134," the concept of building a series of parks over the 134 Freeway as it cuts across the middle of Glendale. The project was beta tested by a 4B architecture studio last spring, taught by Casey Hughes and Alan Loomis. Loomis was interviewed about the project by Hal Eisner of "Good Day LA" on Fox 11. The concept plan, developed by Melendrez Design Partners, has also been featured in the Los Angeles Times and other media outlets.

Loomis sent special thanks to the students who helped who helped us explore this idea, and in particular, Nare Gabrielyan, Devin Gharakhanian and Oleg Kurilenko who volunteered time last summer to present their ideas to Melendrez at the kickoff meeting.
