Graphic Design & Psychology
MCD cross-disciplinary education provides students with an experience that incorporates the knowledge and expertise across majors to help them become better designers, psychologists, and communicators. One example is the partnering of the Package Design and Consumer Behavior courses. Combining their knowledge, students in the Package Design class joined forces with those in Consumer Behavior to create innovative product and packaging concepts. Graphic Design students contributed their creative skills and knowledge about composition and design, and the Psychology students provided their knowledge about the factors that influence and persuade people in their purchasing decisions, including the emotions elicited by certain colors, or the feelings evoked by certain words. Alejandra Ochoa from Graphic Design and Jordan Rada from Psychology created a product line of organic frozen yogurt called Swirlz.
