The Interdisciplinary Studies department’s offers courses that also provide several exciting learning opportunities, from a topic-based two-year sequence of courses drawing from history, literature, philosophy and political science, to introductory courses in foreign languages (Chinese and Japanese), to specialized seminars on different topics of student interest.
Our literature classes offer students a range of perspectives on literary expression and its continuing exploration of the human condition. Students are challenged to pursue the meaningful threads of style and content that connect texts to each other and to their social context. Our foreign language courses focus on introductory Asian languages, but also respond to new student interests in study abroad and assisting in their preparation for such study.
