Philosophy Program

The study of philosophy and critical theory is important not only in the study of art but in all aspects of life. All philosophy courses offered through the Department of Art History provide students with basic as well as advanced inquiry into fundamental questions of ethics and aesthetics and the opportunity to pursue a minor. The minor is usually composed of one basic course in philosophy, either introduction to philosophy or ethical systems, and four upper-division seminars in such topics as aesthetics, moral philosophy and existentialism.
